Meet first-year student Micah Brown, MSOT/S '16
Micah Brown, MSOT/S '16, from Indianapolis, IN
Why did you choose WUOT?
The program has an outstanding reputation, and it gives you the opportunity to choose between the MSOT and OTD degrees.
What brought you to OT and what do you want to do with your degree?
I chose OT because I wanted to be part of such a dynamic field; it is always evolving to meet the needs of the ever-changing industries and its consumers. I also appreciate the more holistic approach, and the opportunity to maximize someone’s ability to participate in life more independently.
What do you like best about your classmates?
Everyone has such a different background, and they all bring something different to the table. You can learn so much from your classmates alone.
What do you think of living in St. Louis?
St. Louis is a great city to live in as a young adult, especially if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on entertainment. There is plenty to do in St. Louis that are either cheap or free, so you will always be able to find something to do to escape your academics for a while.
What story does your family frequently tell about you?
Embarrassing stuttering as a young child
Tell us about something you are involved in (or were) and how it’s changed you?
I was always involved in athletics and sports throughout my life. Whether it was football, rugby, or weight lifting, I think that the discipline I acquired in those settings has certainly applied to the classroom.
What is something you learned in the last week?
Probably the most interesting thing that I learned in the last week was when we worked on transfers in our Toolbox class.
What word describes you best?
What drives you every day?
As stated above, I'm self-motivated – I strive to make myself a better individual every day than I was the day before.
