Fostering Resiliency in Children, Youth and Families: Interprofessional Approaches for Toxic Stress Syndrome

Join us on Saturday, October 11th for an interactive, interprofessional workshop as we:

  • define toxic stress and promote a common language across disciplines
  • identify and discuss the challenges of exposure to long-term, intense stress on the developing adolescent body
  • gain awareness of the profound implications of toxic stress syndrome on the individual, across the lifespan, as well as on the community, and societal levels
  • understand the physiology of the stress response and the toll of sustained stress
  • connect the inter-generational impacts of poverty and toxic stress syndrome
  • explore best practices when working with families in need of supportive intervention
  • apply the Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance (PEOP) and Ecological models to frame the interactional process that occurs with toxic stress
  • identify coping strategies for clients and their families with toxic stress to promote resiliency
  • develop a working understanding of steps to take that will create positive physical and social-emotional environments.
