Stark elected to AOTF Academy of Research

Susy Stark, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, was elected into the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTF) Academy of Research. This is the highest scholarly honor that AOTF confers, and one of the highest honors in the occupational therapy community. Stark joins an elite group of scientists and scholars who have met the Academy of Research criterion of “outstanding contributions through research to the advancement of knowledge in occupational therapy.”

She was nominated by M. Carolyn Baum, PhD, OTR, FAOTA, and Elizabeth Skidmore, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, FACRM. After consideration of the nomination and supporting materials, the Academy selected Stark to be inducted into this distinguished body of researchers.

Stark will be recognized at the AOTA Conference Awards and Recognition Ceremony in New Orleans on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

St. Catherine Challenge and COTAD awards

Washington University in St. Louis won the MVP Award in the 2019 St. Catherine Challenge! The MVP Award recognizes a veteran school that went above and beyond in this year’s Challenge.

Our Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD) student chapter was awarded the 1st COTAD Chapter Excellence Award for demonstrating action toward annual initiatives and passion for diversity/inclusion. Emily Sherman, OTD/S ’19, will be receiving the award on our behalf at the Annual COTAD Breakfast & Award Ceremony at AOTA Conference on Saturday, April 6.

Please RSVP by March 27 to [email protected]. With your response, please include your full name, graduation year and name of guest, if applicable.

AOTA construction alert

AOTA's staff is alerting all conference attendees that due to construction around the convention center, the shuttles will take a long time—about 30 minutes—to complete their routes. Taxis and Ubers will have the same issue, so plan accordingly for your treks to the convention center. The AOTA staff has been advised that it is actually faster to walk (about a half mile from the HQ hotels to the convention center, and then the convention center is an additional half mile long), which should clock in around 20 minutes.
