Ross to give 2019 Voices of Inclusive Health Care Lecture

The Program in Occupational Therapy is proud to welcome Will Ross, MD, MPH, as our 2019 speaker for the Voices of Inclusive Health Care Lecture Series. This series of annual lectures focuses on the social determinants of health and community health issues that impact people’s everyday lives.

Dr. Ross’ lecture, “Politics, Public Health and the History of Health Disparities,” will explore the unique socio-political history of the St. Louis region and relate it to the current state of health disparities. Along with gaining an understanding of the social and structural determinants of health at play in under-resourced communities in St. Louis, the audience will be understand the current fragmentation in City-County Governance and the recent initiative to re-unite the region.

Dr. Ross is the associate dean for Diversity Programs, principal officer for Community Partnerships and professor of medicine in the Division of Nephrology at Washington University School of Medicine. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his medical degree from Washington University. He completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University, a renal fellowship at Washington University, and a master’s degree in public health at Saint Louis University. Over the past two decades, he has recruited and developed a diverse workforce of medical students, residents and faculty while promoting health equity locally, nationally and globally.

The lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 20 at 5:00 p.m. in the Program in Occupational Therapy Auditorium at 4444 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108-2292.

There will be a meet and greet reception with light refreshments following the lecture with the opportunity to speak with Dr. Ross.
