Diana Castellanos, OTD/S '23, led members of the Washington University chapter of the Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (WU-COTAD) to create a mentorship program to help diversify the occupational therapy field. Three committees were created to work on the logistic, mentorship training and manual creation for the program. WU-COTAD submitted and received a grant for $1,000 from the Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity & Equity (CRE2) at Washington University to fund the project. CRE2 brings the research force of Washington University to study how race and ethnicity are integral to the most complex and challenging issues of our time. Faculty member Catherine Hoyt, PhD, OTD, OTR/L, and Hailey Furio, MSOT/S '23, assisted with the grant proposal.
